Project Homeless Connect

Project Homeless Connect excels in connecting the most vulnerable San Franciscans to vital resources throughout the city. At our one-stop shop events and in our office every day, we link participants to difficult-to-obtain services including Medi-Cal, dental and vision care, and employment assistance. By mobilizing city and community agencies, as well as thousands of volunteers, we are able to ensure that our participants receive holistic care in a dignified setting.

What is the Point-In-Time Count?

Every two years the City of San Francisco conducts a HUD-mandated census of the homeless population. The Point in Time Count methodology has improved over the years and includes a visual assessment of people living unsheltered in San Francisco, a census of all shelter and transitional housing programs, and a survey of people experiencing homelessness.Thursday, January 24, 2019, is the 2019 San Francisco Point-in-Time Street Count for all populations.Volunteers will be asked to work in teams of 2-3 people, and walk/drive all over assigned routes from approximately 8:00PM to midnight. Volunteers are expected to attend a one-hour training from 7:00PM-8:00PM on the night of the count, have a charged cell phone, and be able to walk approximately 2-3 miles if necessary.
