If you’ve ever been to a Project Homeless Connect event, you know that a lot goes on during the five hours the doors are open. From dental exams to legal advice to resume building to free groceries, the one-stop-shop we create together has seen more than 67,000 visits since 2004. In combination with our new Every Day Connect program, we’re busier than ever and energized by all your support.
We’re excited, then, to roll out this blog as a way to better advocate for those experiencing homelessness in San Francisco. Together, we’re making a huge impact and want a forum to share stories, updates, and progress with you. With everything that goes on before, during, and after an event—and now with our Every Day Connect program in full gear—you can probably imagine that not everything can be reduced to a 140 character tweet. Nor should it be. This blog will seek to bridge that divide, and we hope you’ll join us on this journey to celebrate all the wonderful strides we’re making.
Each week, you can expect to find stories of participant success, in-depth looks at issues affecting the homeless community (and how PHC is addressing these issues), advocacy, important programmatic announcements, staff Q&A, and a bi-monthly Director’s Corner. We want this space to be interactive (after all, a blog is a two-way street) and we hope you’ll join us by commenting on our posts and sharing them with your friends, family, and community. We’re excited to get started and are looking forward to the coming year. Thank you so much for your support!
