Project Homeless Connect is all about innovation and, when there is a need in the community, doing everything we can to make that service available to those in need.
This August, we added a new service to help individuals experiencing homelessness to move forward! In partnership with The Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California, we held a free hearing screening workshop where on-site hearing levels were given 100% diagnostic testing with a qualified audiologist. If hearing loss is detected, participants are given guidance on next steps. All this is made possible by the Mayor’s Office on Housing and Community Development and support from our individual donors.
According to The Hearing and Speech Center’s Program Manager, Steven Lopez, hearing tests and aftercare are some of the most ignored services. At Project Homeless Connect, we know first-hand that when you give someone the tools to move forward, such as prescription glasses, dental care, or in this case hearing care or hearing aids, that person can focus on other goals and address other priorities in their lives. We are proud to be a part of this program and service.
Project Homeless Connect will be offering this amazing service again soon… you can check our Calendar or call us at (855) 588-7968.
Your community group or organization can host a free Hearing Loss 101 presentation and screenings by The Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California; which includes prevention methods of hearing loss, resources and technology for hearing support, hearing-related mental health and social support, and answer your questions regarding hearing loss.
